Changelog
27 October 2026: generally available
- All APIs and SDKs are generally available; no more preview labels. Every API gets the same promise: breaking changes only in a new version, announced at least 12 months ahead. How versions work
- Terms 1.3: the preview terms are gone; uptime commitments come with the Business and Enterprise plans. Terms
- Prices: the published prices are today’s prices.
27 October 2026: Portuguese
- The developer docs in Portuguese, with the API reference, at /pt/developers.
- Maps SDK 1.1:
lang: 'pt'shows Portuguese names where there are any. Maps SDK
27 October 2026: stopping a monthly plan
- Stop plan in the console’s Billing: the plan runs to the end of the month paid, with no more bills, then new deliveries pause until you choose a plan; credit stays. Keep my plan undoes it. Moving to API only now also waits for the end of the paid month. Pricing
- Terms 1.2: the monthly plan’s renewal and stopping, in the terms.
23 October 2026: running deliveries on N-Ways
- New refusal
API_ACCESS_OFF(403): an organisation that runs its deliveries on N-Ways without the API has its keys off. Add the API in the console, Billing, to use them; API calls are then pay-per-use. Errors - Monthly plans for companies that run their deliveries in the console and N-Ways Business. Pricing
16 October 2026: a key in a minute
- Fleet: where each vehicle is going.
GET /fleet/routesgives, for every vehicle on a delivery, the road it took, the road ahead through every queued stop (from the routing engine) and its stops numbered in order. Each vehicle has acolour(16 keys; set it on create or withPATCH /vehicles/{id}) used on every map, and each delivery a shortref(#1042) for people; alerts carrytaskRefandtaskLabel. API reference - No approval step. Sign up with Google, Apple or email, name your company, and your key is ready at once, with the steps to integrate it on the web, Android, iOS or over REST. Free usage every month.
- Every refusal says exactly why and how to fix it, with a link to its entry on the Errors page in
error.details(Google’sErrorInfoandHelp) and CORS headers so browser code can read it. New reasons:PLATFORM_DISABLED(503: the platform is switched off, your key is fine),PLATFORM_PREVIEW_ONLY,API_KEY_REVOKED(deleted or regenerated keys, which used to beAPI_KEY_INVALID),ORGANISATION_SUSPENDED(wasPARTNER_SUSPENDED),ORGANISATION_CLOSEDandAPI_KEY_PAUSED(wasAPI_KEY_DISABLED). Restriction refusals show what was seen and what is allowed; caps say which and when they reset. Maps SDK for the web 1.0.1 shows the message over the map. - Past the free calls, credit pays on every plan, Starter included. With no credit left, calls past the free ones answer
402 BILLING_DISABLED(it was 403) with a message saying to add credit. Errors
15 October 2026: version 1 of the APIs, SDKs and fleet
- The partner console: sign up with Google, Apple or a work email, then your projects, keys, caps, usage, credit, invoices and team, yourself.
- Stable addresses at
https://nways.ng/maps/v1: geocoding, reverse geocoding (one shape in all fifteen countries), NIPOST postcodes (one or a batch of 100), GhanaPost GPS and Plus Codes, places with field tiers, routes with up to 25 stops, fares and traffic. Points come out as GeoJSON; every error has the same envelope with areason;fields=trims answers. Described in two OpenAPI files: API reference. - New APIs: static maps with signed URLs, autocomplete billed per session, address validation, the route matrix, route optimisation, hosted map styles.
- Fleet: vehicles, positions, deliveries with live arrival times and tracking links, webhooks, the traffic feed and offline packs.
- Maps SDK for the web 1.0 at
https://nways.ng/sdk/v1/(and pinned at/sdk/v1.0.0/): hosted styles, a note over the map when the key is refused, createClientfor every API, a search box, static map addresses, a standalone build with MapLibre, types./sdk/v0/still serves 0.1. - Maps SDKs for Android and iOS 1.0 on MapLibre Native, from source.
- Client libraries for TypeScript, Python, Kotlin and Swift, and a Postman collection.
- The docs in French, pricing, samples, a guide for moving from Google Maps Platform, support and status pages.
15 October 2026: API keys
- Keys are checked: website, Android, iOS and IP restrictions, API restrictions (Maps, Geocoding, Places, Routes, Fares, Traffic, Photos), per-minute rate limits and daily caps. Error reasons are final: see Errors.
X-RateLimit-Limit,X-RateLimit-RemainingandX-RateLimit-Reseton every allowed answer;Retry-Afteron every 429.- Usage beyond each API’s free monthly calls is charged against prepaid credit or invoiced by agreement (
BILLING_DISABLEDwhen prepaid credit runs out). - Project-wide controls: the APIs in your plan apply to every key, limits may cover all a project’s keys together, and a paused project answers
403 PARTNER_SUSPENDED. See Errors. - Maps SDK 0.1.1: a refused tile now writes the HTTP status to the console too.
15 October 2026: developer docs
- The developer docs.
- Maps SDK for the web 0.1 at
https://nways.ng/sdk/v0/nways-maps.js:createMap, light and dark themes, French labels, buildStylefor your own style. - APIs documented: Tiles, Geocoding (with NIPOST postcodes and GhanaPost GPS), Places, Routes, Fares and Traffic.
- API keys: send
key=orX-NWays-Api-Keyon every request.
How versions work
- Web service APIs carry their major version in the path:
/maps/v1/. Within a version we only add things: new endpoints, new optional parameters, new fields in answers. Write your code to ignore fields it doesn’t know. - A breaking change (removing or renaming a field, changing what a parameter means) comes as a new version,
/maps/v2/. The old one keeps working for at least 12 months after the new one is stable. - The Maps SDKs follow semantic versioning.
/sdk/v1/always serves the latest1.x;/sdk/v1.0.0/and later exact versions never change./sdk/v0/keeps serving the earlier 0.1. - Map data (roads, places, postcodes) changes every day as people correct the map. That isn’t a version change.
Deprecations
None yet. When something is deprecated, it’s listed here with its replacement and the date it stops working, and partners using it are emailed.
