What works in Ghana
Everything you use at home, on Ghana's roads.
N-Way covers the whole country on one map with Nigeria, Benin and Togo. Here's what you get when you open it in Ghana.
Search by name
Places, streets and businesses across all 16 regions. Ghana has no postcode N-Way can read, so search by the name of the place.
Turn-by-turn, in English
Spoken directions, lane arrows and road signs, with the region you're in shown on the map, like “Greater Accra · Ghana”.
Traffic lights called out
Lights show on the map at street level, and the turn says “At the traffic light”. Drivers can report a light that's out.
Fuel in cedis
Tell N-Way your car once and every trip shows its litres and what they cost in GH₵, from a recent pump price.
Trains and boats
The Sekondi–Takoradi and Tema–Mpakadan trains, and boat crossings on Lake Volta, where they run.
Police and your rights
“Police ahead” from other drivers' reports, and who to call in Ghana if something goes wrong at a checkpoint.

- Tema–Mpakadan: the line from Tema Harbour through Ashaiman and Afienya.
- Lake Volta boats, such as Yeji–Makongo and Kete Krachi. No timetable is published, so times are estimates, with a reminder to wear a life jacket.

Crossing into Ghana
From Lomé to Aflao, without surprises.
Coming from Togo on the coast road, you cross at Lomé-Kodjoviakopé and Aflao. They're separate posts: you stop on each side. N-Way puts the border in your steps and shows the Ghana side's banks before you get there.
- Bring a passport or ECOWAS travel certificate, a yellow fever card, and for the car its papers and an ECOWAS Brown Card.
- Cedis only: the Bank of Ghana says the cedi is the only legal tender. Change at a bank or a licensed forex bureau.
- No road tolls are collected in Ghana. Parliament has approved electronic tolling, but no prices or start date are out yet.
- Same clock as Togo: GMT. Coming from Nigeria or Benin, you'll have gone back an hour at the Togo border.
