Crossing from Sierra Leone
Over the Mano River Bridge at Bo Waterside.
On the coastal highway from Freetown and Kenema you cross at Jendema and Bo Waterside. A temporary joint border post opened there in August 2026 while ECOWAS builds the permanent one. N-Ways warns you before the border, says what to bring, and welcomes you in.
- Bring a passport, ECOWAS ID card or travel certificate, a yellow fever card, and for the car its papers and an ECOWAS Brown Card.
- Hours: none are published by the border agencies; plan to cross in daylight.
- Same clock: GMT on both sides. The money changes from leones to Liberian dollars: change only at a bank or a licensed forex bureau.
