What works in Côte d’Ivoire

From the lagoons to the Savanes, on one map.

N-Ways speaks French when your phone does, menus and voice included, and you can switch to English in Profile. Here’s what you get on Ivorian roads.

  • Search by name or Plus Code

Places, streets and businesses in all 14 districts. Côte d’Ivoire has no street postcodes (mail goes to a B.P. box), so search by the name of the place, or type a Plus Code to find any spot.

  • Turn-by-turn, in French or English

Spoken directions, lane arrows, road signs and the speed limit, with the district you’re in shown on the map, like “Abidjan · Côte d’Ivoire”.

  • Tolls in F CFA, up front

The FER toll posts N-Ways has mapped are priced on your route for your vehicle, like Grand-Bassam (1,000 F CFA for a car) or the 4th bridge in Abidjan (500).

  • Fair fares and fuel

What a taxi, moto-taxi, wôrô-wôrô seat or bus should cost, and your fuel at the capped pump price, 905 F CFA a litre of super in October 2026.

  • Moto-taxis, where they can go

Rides keep off the Boulevard Félix-Houphouët-Boigny, closed to motorbikes and tricycles since January 2025, and N-Ways tells you where the 2019 Abidjan moto-taxi ban applies.

  • Help after a crash

N-Ways shows the numbers to call: 185 for the SAMU, 180 for the fire brigade (GSPM), who also handle road rescue, and 170 for the police.

The lagoon and the toll roads

Across the Ébrié lagoon, or out to Grand-Bassam.

Choose Boat in Directions and N-Ways plans the walk or moto-taxi to the station, the crossing and the way on. By road, it adds each toll to your trip before you set off.

  • STL water buses: Treichville, Plateau, Abobodoumé, Riviera M’Pouto, Koumassi and Yopougon Azito. 500 F CFA for a short trip, 1,000 F CFA for a long one, with the NORIA card or the STL GO app. No timetable is published, so times are estimates.
  • A life jacket reminder comes with every boat trip, with the weather where you board.
  • Tolls: the Fonds d’Entretien Routier sets a price per post and per vehicle class, paid in cash or with a FER badge. Grand-Bassam is the toll on the coast road between Abidjan and Aboisso.
By boat from Koumassi to Riviera M’Pouto: 39 minutes and 5.5 km, departures not published, a life-jacket reminder and the weather at Koumassi

Codes

A code for every compound, from Le Plateau to Odienné.

The name of your quartier or village and a number said in pairs, unique in the whole country: Bonoumin 61 36 leads a courier, a taxi or an ambulance to your gate. Where PADA has numbered a door, the State’s address comes first. Codes start provisional and are confirmed by the people who live there.

Crossing from Ghana

Elubo to Noé, over the Tano bridge.

On the coast road from Takoradi you cross at Elubo and Noé. They’re separate posts on each side of the bridge: you stop on each side. N-Ways puts the border in your steps, says what to bring, and welcomes you in.

  • Bring a passport or ECOWAS travel certificate, a yellow fever card (both countries ask every traveller aged 9 months or more), and for the car its papers and an ECOWAS Brown Card.
  • Open in daylight: the border works about 12 hours a day, roughly 06:00 to 18:00; drivers who arrive later wait for the morning.
  • Same clock: GMT on both sides. The money changes from cedis to F CFA.
  • Grand-Bassam toll on the way into Abidjan: 1,000 F CFA for a car.
